The History of Pocklington Music

Pocklington Music was started on the 1st September 1999 as a music school and retail shop by Gina Campbell and her husband Steve. The original shop premises was located in a small parade of shops in the Pavement, opposite the church in Pocklington.
The business grew and in 2003 the retail side of the business was sold to Guitar and Banjo tutor Christopher Gledhill. Gina continued to run her school of music from above the shop. Soon after Chris took over the shop he was landed a devastating blow when the town was flooded and the shop was closed for several weeks due to water damage. This was not the first time the town had suffered this fate as throughout history the town has been plagued, particularly in The Great Flood of 1932.

Pocklington Music currently conducts over 100 lessons each week with a team of expert qualified tutors who have years of playing and performance experience.
A recording studio was built 5 minutes walk from the shop and is busy recording, producing and mixing music for local artists. The business is also home to Sinners Music, an independent record label and music publisher managed by Ian.

Shortly after Pocklington Music's 20th Anniversary in September of 2019, after a very happy and successful 7 years, Ian and Jane decided it was time to step away from Pocklington Music. It was then sold to Piers Mansell, whose first job was at the shop during his time at secondary school just up the road at Woldgate College.
